Home Trends That Are Here to Stay!

2022 was definitely the year for fun trends. Wallpaper, bold colors and patterns, and minimalistic designs took over social media. Don’t forget about the minimalistic design strategy, too! Interior designers and homeowners started incorporating these various elements into their properties. Not only do current trends appeal to prospective home buyers, but they make spaces more memorable. Here are some trends that are forecasted to stay prevalent in 2023!

Open Floor Plans

Open floor plans have been around for a minute. Not only do they make spaces feel larger, but open floor plans allow for more communion. Making large spaces serve a variety of purposes draws in the appeal. From a resale perspective, open floor plans tend to appeal to more buyers.

Unique Accessories

Having unpredictable accessories is an easy conversation starter! It is a way to show your personality and, more importantly, be more sustainable. Visiting different thrift stores, or even getting trinkets from your vacation, is the best starting point for these items. Adding family heirlooms can provide a sentimental feel to the space as well.

Traditional Interiors

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? There’s a reason this style is called “traditional”. Now, designers are adding their twist. Made popular in 2022 was the “Coastal Grandmother” aesthetic that called for neutral colors, linen, and blue and white colored china. Picture the Hamptons in 2001. This is then carried throughout the home by having, for example, wood backless barstools, neutral wallpaper in a powder room, and white duvets.

Fun Patterns and Colors

How fun are spaces with interesting wallpapers and unique color combinations? More homeowners are showing their personalities with bold design ideas and colors. For example, wallpapering the top half of a wall and adding a simple board and batten accent on the bottom half allows for fun designs without being too overwhelming.

Let’s recap.

Some trends may have a higher appeal than others, but design truly is all about letting your personality shine. 2023 is the year to make your space your own. Start by adding little trinkets on a bookshelf, accenting your coffee table with design books, or even switching up your family room curtains with a color other than white. Little changes can make a big difference!
